The SpiritWare concordance program is a Bible-study tool that makes
maximum use of mouse, window, and menu capabilities of the GEM desktop
system to provide the user with a fast, easy and powerful way to access
words and phrases that occur in Scripture. It is designed to be used on
STs that have at least one megabyte of memory.
This disk should contain the following files:
CONCORD2.PRG -- A GEM-based concordance program for the Atari ST.
CONCORD2.DOC -- This document.
PAUL.CCD -- The King James Version of the Pauline epistles
(Romans through Philemon)
SPIRITED.ACC -- SpiritEd, GEM-based text editor in a desk accessory
that can be used along with the concordance or any
other GEM-based program.
SPIRITED.DOC -- The instruction manual for SpiritEd.
WORDS.DCT -- A dictionary file used by the concordance program.
You may copy and distribute these files as widely as possible, but please
keep them together and don't modify their contents!
INSTRUCTIONS
This section gives a few brief instructions on how to use the concordance
program. When you order from SpiritWare you will recieve the complete
instruction manual. The manual contains a tutorial with many examples and
illustrations, along with instructions for functions that are not
discussed here. (SPIRITED.DOC contains instructions for using SpiritEd. When used in conjunction with the concordance program, SpiritEd has a study notes feature that automatically keeps track of notes you take while studying Bible passages. The study notes feature is not included with this demo file.)
OPENING THE TEXT
After starting up the program, load in the text by selecting Open from the
File menu and choosing PAUL.CCD from the File Selector.
VIEWING THE TEXT
The Text window Scroll Bar can be used to position the text. The Scroll
Box shows your position within the book you are currently looking at.
Clicking on the Up or Down Arrow moves the text up or down one verse. You
can also click on the gray area above or below the Scroll Box to move the
text up or down one screen.
Pressing the Alternate key redefines the Text window Scroll Bar to show
your position within the entire text file, rather than with respect to the
book you are currently looking at. To move to the next book, press the
Alternate key while you click on the gray area below the Scroll Box.
Clicking on the gray area above the Scroll Box with the Alternate key
pressed will move you back one book.
SEARCHING FOR A WORD OR PHRASE
Type the word (or phrase) into the Search Command window and press Return.
The results of the search will appear in the List window, and the first
verse will appear at the top of the Text window. (If you are searching
for a phrase, do not puctuate it. Punctuation contained in the text is
ignored during the search.)
VIEWING VERSES
To view a verse that was found during a search, activate the List window
and click on the verse. The verse will be displayed at the top of the
Text window.
SEARCHING FOR SEVERAL WORDS AT ONCE
To search for verses that contain one of several words, separate the words
by slashes (/) when entering them into the Search Command window. For
example, to search for verses that contain "love" or "charity" type
love/charity. (The slash only works on words, not phrases.)
SEARCHING FOR WORDS WITH A COMMON ROOT
To search for verses that contain words that have a common root, type the
root with a plus (+) at the end. For example, to search for verses that
refer to baptism, type bapt+.
SEARCHING FOR WORDS IN THE SAME VERSE
To search for verses that contain several words, but not necessarily in
order, separate the words by commas. For example, to search for verses
that contain "grace" and "peace" type grace, peace.
COMBINATION SEARCHES
The above search commands can be combined to conduct more complex
searches.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
This program was designed to operate in an intuitive manner. Feel free to
experiment with the windows and the various menu options.
